Closing speech by Shenggen Fan at the IFPRI-University of Ghana conference, "Understanding Economic Transformation in Sub‐Saharan Africa", held May 10-12 in Accra.

After years of stagnation, many countries in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) have recently undergone important development and transformation in terms of economic growth, sectoral, and spatial trends. Moving forward, strong policy support alongside well-targeted public investments are required to create incentives and opportunities for SSA to proceed with a transformation that supports poverty reduction and food security.
